OMG.I cant believe this is happening in singapore sia,i live in singapore and have a maid.i know some maids are abused in their employers household but in the agency,thats..well i dont what to say now.

The lady who is conducting the simenar is scary. The way she talk the way she explain things to the poor maids is scary enough. I believe that abuse of maids begins at agencies. There is no law in singapore such as cannot have a boyfriend, can;t have a relationship, can't get pregnant. What i understand is if you got pregnant they can't give birth in singapore but they need to go home in thier own country and give birth.

very sad ... i cannot understand the logic why its forbidden for a migrant maid to marry a singaporean citizen ? what is the logic of that ?as for the different compensation based on country of origin that is a little discriminating but then its up to the home country of the migrants to protect them... as for the filipinos .. i think our government had a policy on it... the maid should have a dayoff and paid with corresponding price range ..

I lived in Singapore for all of last year and never saw anything within my friend's homes. I am saddened and disgisted by this news segment. It is unbelievable that RACE dictates pay. It is as though they are leaving a poor country with hope and ending up battered and abused. I do have faith that the majority of households do not abuse and over work their maids but to know that it occurs in a lot of houses at all....is apalling. The Singaporean government needs to give its head a shake!

No. Because Americans know there are some stupid Americans too just like there are some stupid Singaporeans. Dont get me started. Im not interested to go into this silly arguments that leads nowhere. I am not an employer nor did I leave the country because I hate Singapore. Unlike you Yankees we do not have slabery or KKK or The Aryan Brotherhoods who hate everyone except WHITE. Like everyone who saw the clip I too hate anyone abuse another cause of race, religion or creed. You even have a Vice President candidate who doesn't even know Africa is a Continent. You dare to call USA the greatest country on earth!!!!! |
